Bipin Nakarmi aka DJ BPM is one of the most happening DJs in Nepal. At 22, he has already performed at many major events around town. He shares with us his experience as a young, upcoming star.

What made you decide you wanted to become a DJ?
That would be the ‘Project Peace  Festival’. When I heard DJ Ankit, DJ Payal, DJ Kranti and others play at the festival, I decided that Dj-ing was what I wanted to do. That was when I decided to learn to DJ.

What do you think is the best thing about being a DJ?
The best thing about being a DJ is that you make people happy with your music and let them have a good time. You meet a lot of new and interesting people and it’s just awesome.

Which is the one event you will always remember?
Party Nepal’s 8th anniversary party. Half the city was there and everybody loved my music. Though I played pure electronic music, the crowd understood my music and the energy I hoped the crowd would display, was there.

What is the one thing you cannot live without?
Music is the only thing I cannot live without. Whenever I put my earphones on, the mad world around me disappears and I’m transported to a different place.

How do you feel about being one of the youngest and most popular DJs in town?
It’s really strange how that has happened in such a short time. Two years ago, I was just another face in the crowd. Now, people recognize me because of what I do and they appreciate it. And it just feels great.

What message do you want to give to our young readers?
Hard work always pays off. It might not be immediate, but it eventually does. So work hard at whatever you do. Do the things that you want to, not the things you have to.
